Thanks to an agreement between the EUIPO and the European Commission, refunds on trademarks, industrial designs, inventions and new plant varieties have been extended to small and medium-sized Ukrainian companies.

The Idea Powered for Business SME Fund is aimed at supporting innovation and entrepreneurship among small and medium-sized businesses. Financial support provided by the European Commission and the EUIPO to Ukraine-based SMEs will include:

trademark and design protection within the European Union (national, regional, EU level) for 75% of the fees up to a maximum of EUR 1000

patent protection or related activities within the European Union (national patents and European patents) for 75% of the fees up to a maximum of EUR 1500

plant variety protection at European level for 50% of the fees to a maximum of EUR 225

Step-by-step procedure:

  1. To submit an application, we need a certificate of VAT number or TIN, and confirmation from bank about an account with an international IBAN number with country code and BIC/SWIFT code, if the application will be submitted by an attorney then a signed power of attorney will be necessary.
  2. Submit an application for a refund voucher.
  3. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and until the pool of funds is exhausted.
  4. The decision on granting the voucher shall be made within a maximum of 15 working days from the submission of the application (10 working days counted from each Friday).
  5. If the award decision is positive, the voucher can proceed. This must be done within 2 months of receiving the decision (the deadline can be extended by 2 months).
  6. In the next step, we have to pay the entire fees for the applications made.
  7. Then you can submit another application for reimbursement of the refunded part of the fees.

Certificate of VAT/TIN number

Certificate of ownership of a bank account

A scan of the signed and completed power of attorney

Information on whether you are a micro, small or medium-sized enterprise
