European Patent Office Fee Increase
The European Patent Office introduces increases in the official fees, which will apply from April 1, 2023. These increases affect most of the fees and typically vary between 4% and 6%.
The fees that increase the most are, for example, the examination fee, which increases from EUR 1,750 to EUR 1,840. Renewal fees also increase. In this case, e.g. the 3rd year renewal fee will be EUR 530 (currently EUR 505).
Due to the increases, we encourage you to pay some fees earlier, if possible. Annual fees can be paid at the earliest 3 months before their due date. You can also pay earlier some official fees due when submitting a European application (filing, search, examination and designation fee). For payments made before April 1, 2023 – current rates apply.
